Quaife Limited Slip Diff

Postby PregST » Sat Feb 24, 2018 2:26 pm

Hi,

I own a 2016 Focus ST1 and found the torque steer and wheel hop an issue. Contacted Lazarus Performance to supply a Quaife LSD, which was fitted by Ford Tygervalley, this preserving the warranty. The car is transformed and a much more consistent performer. Have any other members fitted LSD's and found out otherwise?

Yup, but M factory. Fitted it for track use but it's definitely helped a bit in a straight line

Also heard replacing the engine mount at the back helps with wheel hop and gear shifts. maybe look into one as well

Thanks guys!

The RMM is an option from Mountune, but a Ford technician warned that the extra stifness transmits more vibrations into the interior and could cause damage to the gearbox. I do not abuse the car but find the occasional GTi irritating me in the rearview. Still have to be passed on roll on acceleration by a GTi,

that depends entirely on what mix they use for the mounting

There is minimal loss of traction and no intervention by the annoying torque vectoring control which retards ignition timing if you start losing traction. Much quicker through the gears and smoother to drive. Interestingly watch the YouTube track test of the Focus St by Ashley Olfield on Cars.co.za as well as the times posted by the Gti 7.5 around Killarney. Standard ST without LSD much faster

Golf GTi 7.5- 1.37.47
Golf R- 1.34.37
Focus St - 1.33.6

Now that is something- faster than Golf R around Killarney. Check out the track tested on cars.co.za. Professional driver verified. Now I reckon that my Quaife diff should cut down the ST time by atleast a second! Time to trade in that Golf 7.5 Gti that you are rowing,

aah yes ofcoz. You pushed the ST250 to its limits if i remember correctly. I guess you weren't satisfied? How did your fully modded ST perform against a GTi by the way? (seeing that you now own one!)

Well power wise mod for mod is the GTI ahead. The last time i had dyno the ST wkw dyno it made 249wkw. The GTI with minimal mods intake JB4 and exshaust was making 202 wkw without any software upgrade on ecu just jb4. But BT is in the pipe line so will see what she makes when its on the same level as the ST where.
