Pic request - Sub enclosure

Postby BarryLeeGTC » Tue Jan 06, 2015 3:22 pm

Afternoon chaps

Been through this section and can't find many so i'm hoping some of you have a few laying around.
The sound in an 'ST'1 is not great and I so miss my bass.
I'm looking for ideas on getting a 10" sub in the sidewall of the boot of Focus so i don't take up much space.

Please could you post some pictures of your setup if you have this done.

I don't yet understand the difference but both sound shops i want to said the Fibreglass is gonna be more expensive.
Still doing research about both options.

Which would you recommend?

fiberglass is more expensive but you can DIY... its alot of dirty work though.
Depending on the sub you gonna use will determine what you can use...
enclosure size, port size, displacement, Firing direction, and pressure levels will play a big part in the types of frequencies you play and quality of the sound you gonna have.

I love the look of fiberglass but MDF Super wood works best...

I was looking at doing something along these lines http://fordstnation.com/showthread.php?t=4852. The guys at Sound Dynamics opposite HiFi Corp in Rondebosch said they can do something similar for R750. For some reason that sounds very cheap.

You can look at the jl audio stealthbox for ideas and how it looks fitted. That box costs a bit too much imo. Also it is fiberglass. Best bet would be to make a spec wooden box for the sub you want. Will this be for sq? I want to do the same thing as you as I hate the ST sound. Even with mine being the ST3 it is just not up to standard if you are a audiophile. Try looking at the overseas focus forums as well. I have seen there the custom fabrications the guys do are quite good and would be great for ideas.
