VAping ST225 - Advice?

Postby Not_Sean » Tue Jan 30, 2018 2:35 am

The ST has Decided it likes Vaping, and I'm a very disappointed parent:

Everyone I ask is quick to jump to Turbo seals but the big thing is its super Intermittent like will go a week with no smoke then smoke for 20 seconds and gone.

Even in the Video, the smoke at the end is just condensation, also on this Turbo its, a Steel ring like a Piston ring and that doesn't seem likely to go like a normal gasket.

What guys have suggested to me is an issue with the 1-way valve on the Inlet oil feed going into the turbo. The coolant hasn't dropped any and engine oil doesn't have a trace of milkiness so at least it's not the head gasket. So from what I can gather its either the inlet or outlet from the Turbo oil and it's basically just dumping a bit right into the turbo and burning it out.

Also got a P2196 and P0140 both related to CAT Sensors, I've read this isn't so much a problem more so that I'm running a full 3" de-cat system with only rear boxes with no software and once I got software it'll sort Thoughts

Thoughts?

Im no expert on vaping but chat to Hano about installing an oil catch can with breather - seen it done before on other STs and sorted the issue out.

Thanks man, He ever online here anymore? Was thinking about installing two Oil catch cans one for the Turbo breather and another for normal PCV.

Figured it out,

Ended up been the Filter housing PVC pipe up to the Cam cover, I still had the plastic one and it fell to pieces, put on a temp hose and cars running like a dream, Ordered the Rubber OEM one to replace it. So heads up anyone with a Pre FL, maybe worth replacing yours now before it becomes brittle and cracks

Nice catch , you will find that 90% of smoking cases are PCV related and not Turbo related.
Pipes leading from tappet cover to OFH
Intake to OFH ,
Anti pollution pipe and valve from intake to turbo.
Modding Fords since 1985

Yeah learning that now, Was just a huge relief to know my turbo isn't buggered, Getting anything ST here in New Zealand is a real mission, but I do love the car :P
