Engine Error Codes
Can anybody help?
I have an intermittent "Engine Systems Fault" error code!
I am running DS softwate and have the DS 3000 handheld.
Is it possible to check what this error is, or must I take the car to the dealer?

Re: Engine Error Codes
Yip, read dtc and write the code down... It could be oil filter housing or boost leak

Re: Engine Error Codes
**** Question = For me to read the code must it still be on the car's display?
Cause the error was showing for about 5 minutes while i was getting to a petrol station.
This is the third time now, after checking all at station, oil, water, etc, etc.
The error code is now gone!

If the engine light is not on, then sometimes it wont find a code. What you can also do is the following:
1. Switch off the car.
2. Keep in the reset button on the indicator lever for about 5sec.
3. While keeping it in, turn the ignition on.
4. When it says "test mode" then you can let go and toggle your way through the menu untill you get to dtc's and see if it gives you a code.
Good luck !

Re: Engine Error Codes
Did the check like you said P Dubs,
It shows = DTC's None.
So I suppose it won't help taking it to the dealer to check, or what do you reckon?

Re: Engine Error Codes
There are some DTCs which DS doesn't seem to pickup - take it to Ford and let them plug it in.
My car has been suffering from intermittent "ENGINE SYSTEMS FAULT", combined with "ESP SYSTEMS FAULT" error messages as well as not reving past 6000RPM - took it to Ford and they picked up a couple of DTCs.

Re: Engine Error Codes
The one causing my issues is P0330 - knock sensor malfunction. Both knock sensor and ECU were replaced - the car is slightly healthier now, but it still pulls timing now and then at 6000RPM. I suspect a bad connection/short on the wiring.

Re: Engine Error Codes
I also have doubts about wiring, last week the front indicator stopped working.
I took it apart and globe was still 100's. Put everything back and indicator works again.
What do you guys reckon, must I return the car to stock before I take it to the dealer?
Will they be able to check for DTC's whilst I run DS software? Newbie on these things.

Re: Engine Error Codes
did u guys check that all your grounding points doesn't have paint between connector and the metal of the car, as namib_boy 's faults seems more like grounding than anything else
