DS and cracked sleeves

Postby STeam » Tue Sep 17, 2013 2:17 pm

Ive seen quite a few posts implying that DS software results in fatal endings eg. DalaSleeve
Im currently running the DSCI map. Should I consider changing my software brand?

SW on its own does not crack sleeves, it is us as individuals that do it. their are instances where guys who own ST's increase boost to gain performance without running correct fuels etc. this is where we end up cracking sleeves. on a few odd occasions will there be a custom tune with high boost and high timing advance that will cause the sleeve to go....

If you run revo 999 on pump fuel, expect this to happen. If you run DS with high boost (1.1 bar and up) and excessive timing , expect the same to happen. Moral of the story, run correct fuels with the generic SW maps and you will be fine. try keep boost to a max of 1.2 bar on stock sleeves

No matter what mod you add to your car, you will compromise your reliability.

I wouldn't go that far. Just sell the car and buy a VW. That's the current trend on the forum. Image

Honestly, I see people complaining that software breaks cars. What people fail to understand is that a modded car can have breakages due to many factors and software is not necessarily the cause. It could be a host of things like detonation, bad fuel, worn parts, faulty plugs etc that can result in stressing the motor which can end up with a breakage.

For all your performance, wheels and stlyling requirements please check link below. Now carrying a range of wheels, plugs for the ST225/ST250 as well as suspensions for Fords.

Ask for proof that the DS software caused any sleeves to crack. Speak to the owners to get the truth.
DS has been tuning ST's in SA, since they arrived on these shores, including the RS. We hold the majority of the market, not the forum :)

The name calling is what it is.
1/4mile times and 1km exit speeds (which is not heavily dependent on driver) speak for themselves in 3 provinces.
Framed dyno sheets are nice, trophies are better :)

Our cars are fast enough, no need to stress the engine to go faster.
