Fiesta ST Windscreen Replacement

Postby Priyan » Sun Jun 11, 2017 7:24 pm

Hi Team ST,

I recently (last week) replaced my Fiesta ST's windscreen, through my vehicle insurance. The contractor used was Auto-boys ( I think a division of Auto-glass).

After inspecting the car, I was shocked by the poor workmanship. The glass does not seem to sit flush against the outside beading, I can now see the silicone used to seal the glass from inside of the car and the roof lining edging is now exposed. (The glass utilized was Grandmark).

After contacting the contractor, they agreed about the shody work and are willing to re-install.

I am reaching out for some advice, for guidance as to where I should rather take the car for a specialist to install a Ford approved windscreen. Any other tips are also welcomed.

Thanks for the help.

I just had mine done by Auto Boys too, the housing behind the rear view mirror doesn't line up anymore either.
This could also just be me being paranoid but, the wind noise with all the windows closed is much louder than i ever remember it being.

These guys that do the fitting of windscreens are shocking.

I had mine replaced a while ago. The mirror console didn't sit flush. My left had side plastic/rubber came of on the highway and damaged my paint on the pillar. I fixed that myself. All and all i am very disappointed in the workmanship but sadly there is not much one can do about it. They send me a message to rate them. So just gave them the lowest rating possible. PS this was at a glasfit.

PG Glass & National Auto Glass supply Ford Approved OEM spec windscreens, never had issues with either of them.

Personally think it boils down to the person installing the windscreen.
A friend had his windscreen be loose, as in when he shut the door, the windscreen would lift!

Worked out cheaper to just get it replace via insurance than get it taken out and redone.

I had a guy with a massive babbelas come to replace my windscreen one Saturday morning... was not impressed. Told him if he f... messed it up, I would report him as drunk on the job... best install I ever had!

My Mazda 6's was replaced by National Auto Glass Germiston at the Imperial Germiston's premises while it was there for a service no issues at all, but maybe because it was done at the dealer.
