Cobb tuning

Postby Ford St2830 » Mon Jan 01, 2018 9:23 pm

Hi all

Happy new year to everyone.

I’ve been on a long distance trip recently with my Focus St 250 currently has a custom map stage1 and I would like to get some clarity regarding negative ignition corrections. I noticed that on the Ap I’ve seen negative values up to -4,19 under hard acceleration with the vehicle aircon on and this usually happens not immediately. It first makes positive readings up to 4,00 then falls to negative readings. Is this due to the climate. Is this a cause for concern, or is this normal under the circumstances

Thanks

Have a chat with your tuner about it, otherwise you can give Karter Performance a call and once of us can explain it to you next week if you'd like.
It's a lengthy explanation to type out in detail.

Thanks a lot guys had a chat with my tuner he explained to me the process.
He’s response was “Negative correction on part throttle is perfectly normal. That is the car trying to find mbt. That means the best advance timing with least amount of fuel for the best emissions and fuel economy. It is the way the ecu was designed. It is normal.. Mine does it aswell”

Thanks all

Glad you've got your full explanation.

Just remember you said: "I’ve seen negative values up to -4,19 under hard acceleration". If under hard acceleration then the explanation holds true but means the ignition timing is way too advanced for the fuel/load/rpm. It is best to avoid any negative corrections at At wide open throttle.

That is insane torque! Timing won't meant anything to me unless I know the load and RPM, either way, that's mental torque!
Nice!
