Figo SWR421 Branches Drone

Postby GoUwSiE69 » Tue Sep 05, 2017 8:19 pm

Hey guys

Recently fitted the SWR 4-2-1 branches on my 1.4 Figo. I already had a 50mm pipe with a freeflowing (straight through) backbox which sounded nice without any drone.. But now after removing the CAT and installing the branch the exhaust has a raspy sound and is way to loud.. couldn't hear myself think on the highway.

So I went to an exhaust shop and they fitted the biggest Cowley off center backbox to help quieten it down a bit... Now it sounds ****, sounds like a Tazz and still too loud and drone on the highway.

I have read about resonators the will cancel out certain frequencies of the exhaust tone, but the exhaust shops I've been to (Powerflow, HiQ, FastFit) don't really seem to be knowledgeable on that.

Any tips to get the drone away and get a nice sound out of it ?

**EDIT
FYI I felt a massive difference after installing the branches, lekker torque and quick revs. As soon as I left the shop after putting the bigger back box on I felt a decrease in power... I think it's because the off center box creates more backpressure

Thanks guys :)

Go to the PF in Randburg... they should sort you out. Just stay away from the PF in Edenvale.
I suspect that size is too big as well.... 1.4 Figo on the highveld with a 50mm freeflow doesnt sound ideal

Thanks for the reply, I did go to the one in Randburg and all they suggested was a bigger box which I did but still not happy.. It's mainly the drone and raspy sound that iritates me.

2000 Audi TT 1.8T QUATTRO 165kw Coupe with 95 000km... Spotless. Already did 76mm downpipe, induction kit, full cambelt service, poly dogbone mount, and remap by WOT Logix. Doing 195kw now.. A bit heavier on petrol than the Figo but hey.. smiles per gallon :)
