Focus ST KontrolFreakz project

Postby FrankyGTI » Sat Apr 27, 2013 4:21 pm

Well, we had a guy at our dyno day that wanted to squeeze out more power, and we offered to help him out.

he was pushing just over 170wkW's.

We started off by stripping out the stock turbo, and sent it in for a k04 R Hybrid upgrade with a little in-house secret recipe added..

What she looked like when it got back..

While the turbo was out we discussed what other mods to do in the mean time.. and what better way to gain KW's, than by adding a HID kit.. hahahahahahaha..

Well,he already had a full 76mm DP and zorst, so besides the HID kit and a full LED kit, we got hold of a snow performance WMI kit, and the installation began, fitting the bottle in the boot, was a big NO for me, as I had a leak in my own WMI bottle once, and meth just don't smell too good, not to mention that it's highly flammable.

We came up with the following:

Once the meth kit was installed, we looked at getting rid of all that nasty silicon bends on the make shift induction kit, and came up with this..

a front lower tie bar was added to the MIX, stock 50mm boost pipes were redone to a much bigger 63mm to company his massive FMIC, and Lechner Tuning came to load a nice little map upgrade for him.

Customer is going to come collect his car on Monday afternoon, as soon as everything has adapted and the turbo has run in, we will post some new dyno results and more pics of the other mods.. hehehe!!

Very nice work with the bottle mount.

170wkw is slightly low for stock turbo? What mods are on the car

Well he had a DP, zort and a silicone bend intake, apparently it had stock software. The car has quite a bit of mileage on, maybe the turbo was a little wonky... there were some ST's on the dyno day with the same type mods doing less power, could just be a stingy dyno.

I did mention its wheel kW's hey??

Does water meth injection only work on boosted cars?

Is it silly to put it on an N/A car?

You can install a WMI kit on any car, it's not silly at all.. it's a protection mod, designed to prolong engine life, reduce knocking, reduce intake temps and boost octane.

performance is just a very nice side effect.

It is highly flammable so it is safer in the engine bay away from passengers and the engine bay is usually well seperated from the cabin of the car so if should something go wrong you are safe

I was also going to ask this question.. putting this on a N/A car, how much more power can be expected, if any?

okay I understand thanks for clearing that up. BUT if you don't smoke and the bottle leak you can get it sorted without burning the car. where as it is in the engine bay you car goes kaboem
