FIESTA/FIGO engine

Postby Thabani » Mon Feb 26, 2018 2:28 pm

Hi Guys

Noob here to the forum :-) :D :D

I need some advise from some fellow ford experts here...

I drive a 2006 MK6 ford fiesta 1.4 duratec(little bublle on the head lights), I recently fitted the engine from a 2012 Ford Figo as I was under the impression that the engine were identical. Certainly looked identical.

I had a mechanic fit the engine for me with no issues, the only extra things he changed was a worn out mount, got my car back and I was a happy chappie.

A few months down the line I now need to do my clutch and slave bearing, im not worried as I new this was coming up in the near future. I was advised to also do my rear main seal as well, since I have a bit of a leak , and since that part of the engine was being opened up again.

The big hassle start with me now having to buy parts from Ford. 2 sales consultants at CMH told me that the they cannot use my original VIN number to get correct pert from then as I have changed the engine. They need the original cars vin number.

All I have is my Fiesta VIN and the Figo's engine number

Can anyone help me figure this one out? Are they correct in saying that the engines are different or are they rehearsing a script? is there away this can be done with only the Engine number

Any advise will be great

THANKS

You should be able to get after market parts. If you can take a sample with you then go to any Midas or Autozone or similar place.

99% of the time they dont know what to look for hence they ask the VIN - like above just get the part and match it - much easier

Honestly go take a picture of a Vin on the windshield on a Figo in the parking lot, they just use the Vin to make sure they have the right car. The ST225 guys did it for getting parts at Volvo it just makes so much more easier when dealing with sales staff.
