HID kit legal?

Post by byebye » Wed Apr 23, 2014 10:27 am

Hi

I would just like to know are these HID kits illegal? I got the 6000k fitted to my Fiesta ST.

The past weekend I got pulled over and this arrogant cop said that my lights are illegal. He confiscated my license disk and gave me a R750 fine and declared my vehicle unroadworthy. No I need to go to the testing station and get this sorted out.

Please advise if any one on the forum had a similar experience.
Or should I just put back the standard lights?

As far as I know, Stu is right, 6000K is the legal limit.
Just another cop drunk with the power of being able to make other innocent people's lives miserable.

HIDs are becoming illegal...
especially the cars that do not have the "xenon" bulb to focus the light... 'normal' lights do not focus these bright lights and it is VERY bright then in the 'normal' headlight...
like permanent brights... which is cool if you drive the car but as the other road users not so cool.

I hate HID kits, I really do. (the ones in the 'normal' headlight without xenon focus lens)

In the UK it has been declared illegal that I know. Couple of articles on the net for the reasons behind it
Just didnt know it has already filtered to us here as well in such an extend that they fine people...

PS: just get uprated bulbs form Osram or Phillips to replace the yellow OEM ones ;)

If its a change in legislation it must be publicized before hand, some random cop cant just tune you its illegal if he's just trying to be a ****

Thank you all for replying.

I will go to the testing station and here what they have to say.

I don't have the time and energy to go after this cop and complain, I just know nothing is gonna come for this. 'corruption'
