Engine Swop

Postby Marchando » Fri Jan 27, 2017 4:30 pm

Good Day Guys

I am new to this forum. I did introduce myself in the Noobs corner, but here is goed again.

Name is Marchando. Owner of a donkey (Ford Figo 1.4 Trend).

I knew when I bought the car 3 years ago that it wasn't as fast as my MK1 Golf was but it was a new and reliable car.

Also got it for a VERY good price with only 9000km.

Anyways. I have been thinking about upgrades for performance. Now I know spending money on the standard 1.4i motor will be ****, but what about a ST 2lt motor transplant?

Not sure if it will work as i'm not a mechanic or even something close to one. I have a mechanic but he is a old generation dude and believes in standard and only standard.

Will a swop like this work or is it not worth it? Sell the old donkey and buy a GTi or something?

sell the donkey and buy ST instead. It will save you a lot of headaches and money.

Besides the engine swop. you will need the gearbox and upgraded brakes plus the suspension will need changing as well. Not to mention the wire harness you will also need. Rather sell the Figo and look for a decent second hand ST
